The date of the “Anthracite Labor Wars” Book Presentation has been bumped up to May 21st, however, it will still be at 7:00 pm at the Duryea Municipal Building (315 Main Street Duryea).
This will be a great opportunity to discuss and ask questions of the authors about very interesting topics in local history such as:
-The subcontracting and leasing of mines by mine owners.
-The great strike of 1902.
-John Mitchell and the United Mine Workers.
-The Italian community of Greater Pittston during the peak years of immigration.
-Organized crime’s affect on mining.
-The types of crimes that were committed during the labor war.
We hope to see you there!
Thank you.
